Why StrikeBooks
Most invoicing apps are built for designers and coffee shops. They don’t know what a dark day is, when double time kicks in, or what you’re owed for a missed meal break. So you end up back in a spreadsheet after load-out, hoping you didn’t leave money on the table.
StrikeBooks was built specifically for the way production work is actually billed.
Built for Production
Everything your spreadsheet can’t do — for freelance audio, video and lighting techs.
Configurable OT & double time from your rate card — plus short turnaround, meal penalties, rest periods, and overnight work. Calculated instantly.
Itemized labor, premiums, reimbursements, and gear — including deposit → final invoice flow. Logo, terms, and send from the app.
GSA-accurate per diem rates, IRS mileage with free-radius rules, and travel day billing — all handled.
Punch in from your phone. Meal breaks and hours sync straight to the job day and invoice.
Transactions ledger, P&L, Schedule C worksheet, and quarterly federal estimates — planning tools from the work you already logged.
Global and per-client cards. Dark days, holidays, time blocks, meal penalties, and short turnaround — rules your contract recognizes.
Rate Cards
Set up once, bill forever. Save day rates, OT multipliers, short turnaround rules, per diems, and mileage — per client or globally. StrikeBooks does the rest.
The Billing Engine
Log shifts and meal breaks — StrikeBooks calculates regular labor, OT, double time, premiums, per diem, mileage, and travel automatically.
The Workflow
Enter your client, venue, and dates — or import from your calendar. StrikeBooks auto-fills the billing schedule.
Clock in/out or enter shifts and meal breaks. OT, DT, and premiums calculate in real time.
One tap generates a clean, itemized PDF. Email it straight from the app. Done.
Invoices
A clean, itemized PDF — labor, overtime, premiums, per diems, mileage, and gear. Deposit invoices credit the final bill. Zero spreadsheet work.
Financial Reports
P&L statements, IRS Schedule C worksheets, and quarterly estimated tax breakdowns — generated from your jobs, invoices, and Transactions ledger. Your CPA will love how organized you are.
Planning tools only — StrikeBooks is not a CPA, tax advisor, or a substitute for tax-prep software. Verify filings with a qualified professional.
Built by one of us
“I built StrikeBooks after too many corporate gigs and tour weeks where invoicing ate 30–40 minutes of my life. OT, premiums, midnight edge cases… spreadsheets made it miserable.”
The billing math is checked against a set of real-world test jobs every time an update ships.

Pick Starter, Plus or Pro. If you don’t, you can still finish open jobs and send their final invoices. Creating new jobs, clients or rate cards needs a plan.
Freelance audio, video and lighting techs (and other production crew) who invoice their clients directly: A1s, A2s, LDs, V1s, camera ops, crew chiefs, small one-person AV businesses.
If a call is paid through payroll, you don’t invoice it, so StrikeBooks isn’t for that work. Plenty of union members also take freelance corporate or non-union gigs they invoice themselves, and that’s what StrikeBooks is for.
Right now it’s built for US freelancers. Per diem uses GSA rates, and mileage and tax planning use IRS rules.
Rate cards are configurable: OT and double-time thresholds, short turnaround, meal penalties, dark days, travel days and time blocks. Set rules per client if different clients pay differently.
